    11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Public access to the site is now restricted but is available through pre-booked guided tours.

The tour is by mini-bus and begins and ends at the RAF Upper Heyford Heritage Centre (Building 103).

Please report to the RAF Heyford Heritage Centre (Building 103) off Camp Road (turn in to former main gate, follow yellow signage for School Bus Drop Off, first exit off roundabout, Building 103 is last building on left).

Each tour begins at 11:00 am with a short history video and lasts for approximately three hours, but may take longer as extra time will be provided for photography etc on request. Please let us know before the tour if you have time constraints.

Places are limited to the capacity of the mini-bus (14 people) and can be booked via this website only.

Interior access to buildings may not be available due to maintenance work.

The tour itinerary may change at short notice.

The historic site has not been altered to allow disabled access.

Unfortunately booking cancellations and changes of date cannot be accepted.

The right is retained to cancel tours due to unforeseen circumstances, such as adverse weather or illness, in which case a full refund will be offered.

Suitable clothing and footwear is recommended.

A follow-up e-mail with further details will be sent before the tour.

  1. I’m so excited to see this your being offered as I will be visiting the UK sometime next year.. I was stationed there in 76-77. I was wondering if you could tell me if any of the barracks are part of your tour specifically the cop barracks? Thank you for your time !

    1. Hi Bill
      Many thanks for your e-mail.

The tours concentrate on the undeveloped flying field as public access to this area is restricted.

The former domestic and technical sites are generally accessible (except for actual construction sites) but have been refurbished for commerical rents or re-developed and replaced by new buildings.

Unfortunately, the re-development includes most of the barracks blocks which have now gone. Buildings 77 & 78 do remain and house the Cherwell Innovation Centre.

  2. Hello, I was hoping to purchase 4 tickets for the August 11th 2019 tour. My husband was stationed at Upper Heyford from 1976-79, we are visiting England from Aug 10 to Sep 3rd.

The Aug 11th trip is the only one offered in our time frame. It now show sold out but only seven tickets sold, yet your web site says the mini bus holds 15.

    Thank you

    1. Hi Felicity, I’m not quite sure what the issue is here as I have four tickets booked in your name for the 11 August tour.

Please check your Paypal account to see if the payment has gone through and let me know at uhheritage@outlook.com ?

There is a difference in the number of tickets shown as sold and the capacity of the mini-bus because, as in this case, we sometimes accept group bookings and only the available balance of seats are made available via the website.
